This one’s an aside from the normal posts – it’s a couple of job postings. Yup – Custom Strength is growing!
I have two positions to fill at Custom Strength:
Job descriptions are posted below. Please forward if you think you know someone who would be both interested and a good fit.
Part time trainer (potential to become full-time in the new year)
Working at Custom Strength‘s main site (“The Shed”) in Hintonburg with potential to also run group training nearby.
Custom Strength has developed a training system based in the philosophy of balanced, full body training. The tools we use are varied, but largely follow a “functional” and “sport-specific” approach. Training sessions at Custom Strength involve a combination of stretching, foam rolling, corrective exercise (strongly influenced by the Functional Movement Screen), power and agility training, strength training and conditioning. Tools we have at our disposal include:
– Foam rolls, bands and minibands
– Free weights (barbells and weights, Kettlebells, and dumbbells)
– Weight vests
– Dual power rack with 2 pullup stations
– Functional trainer
– Glute ham developer
– TRXs
– Plyometric boxes, hurdles and medicine balls
– Airdyne, battling ropes, slideboard
As a trainer at Custom Strength, you will be implementing the Custom Strength system with your clients. There is room for you to provide your own input, however, it will be within the context of the system.
There are a few core values that any trainer who comes in to Custom Strength must have:
– An understanding of the relative important of proper movement and workout intensity
– A continual desire to learn
– An interest in making sure our clients have both a great workout and a great time while they are at Custom Strength
If you’re still thinking “that could be me”, then here is the rest of what we’re looking for:
– Must be enthusiastic, personable and nice.
– Willingness to learn (you know how people tend to repeat the important stuff…)
– Must be certified as a personal trainer (note if you are not yet certified, but you are super keen to work at Custom Strength, we can’t hire you for this current position, but we will definitely have more openings coming up in the coming months. Email me so we can keep in touch).
– Must be attentive to detail, and be able to multi-task (you will be training up to 3 people at a time – it is a really fun way to train, but if you have trouble with more than one thing going on at once, this is not going to be the right fit for you.)
– Experience may or may not be an asset – depends what your experience is!
– If interested, I invite you to come to Custom Strength on Thursday July 19th at 130pm for an open house. Please RSVP by emailing me through the contact form on this site by Tuesday July 17th.
This will give us a chance to get a feel for each other, and for you to get a feel for what Custom Strength and this position is about. At that point, if you are interested, please submit a resume by end of day on July 20th. I will hold interviews (possibly in the form of a workout!) with the top 3 candidates the following week (don’t have the times yet).
